Darrell Steinberg, shareholder at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, chair of the firms California Government Law & Policy Practice, and former California State Senate President pro Tempore, received two awards in April recognizing his leadership in Californias government and his advocacy for those suffering from mental illness.
California Common Cause (CCC) presented Steinberg with its lifetime achievement award at the Democracy Rocks event April 15 in Los Angeles. CCC presented the award to Steinberg because of his exemplary leadership in successfully reforming Californias ballot initiative process, his commitment to stewarding the Senate to be a productive body, and his efforts to strengthen transparency and ethics in the Legislature, said CCCs Executive Director Kathay Feng. According to CCCs website, California Common Cause is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots advocacy organization that serves as a vehicle to strengthen public participation and ensure that public officials and public institutions are accountable and responsive to all citizens.
Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMHS) also presented Steinberg with an award April 23 in Los Angeles at its annual Erasing the Stigma Leadership Awards event. Steinberg was honored for his efforts to enhance mental illness awareness and assistance for those suffering with mental illness. DHMHS recognized his service both while in the legislature and now with his new venture, The Steinberg Institute for Advancing Mental Health Policy. According to its website, DHMHS transforms lives by providing quality mental health care and substance use disorder services in communities where stigma or poverty limit access.
